HW accelerated QT 4.7 on TI AM335x running Windows Embedded Compact 7

Windows Embedded 8 availability

Hi Folfs,

Spring this year is starting with a new release of Windows Embedded Standard from Microsoft, the Windows Embedded 8 Standard. This product has the same modular phylosophy as the previous version, but it is based on Windows 8 operating system.

Different flavours of that OS are available :

  • Windows Embedded 8 Pro : A full version of Windows 8, 8 Pro brings the welcome familiarity and full capabilities of Windows 8 to the embedded market to allow partners to quickly deliver exciting and differentiated industry specific solutions. Find out more.
  • Windows Embedded 8 Standard : A componentized version of Windows 8, 8 Standard can be optimized for the specific needs of specialized and industry specific devices within an intelligent system, including embedded specific lockdown features for enhanced device security. Find out more.
  • Windows Embedded 8 Industry : 8 Industry is a fixed platform solution based on Windows 8 that provides the capabilities that devices in Retail, Financial Services and Hospitality Industries require. Find out more.

For those who are looking for a modular version of Windows 8 RT... then sorry it is not in the Microsoft plans to provide such version of Windows 8.

Congatec QMX6 running Windows Embedded Compact 7

Hi Folks,

Jochen is doing a great job in porting the Freescale i.MX6 BSP from Adeneo Embedded onto the latest Congatec module based on the Freescale i.MX6 processor, the QMX6.
The demo shows that the system is up and running with the support of the OpenGL acceleration.

130228_KB2811868 - The CD drive storage manager uses a fixed time of 2 seconds to poll for a newly inserted disc, This leads to a delay up to 2 seconds until an inserted disc is detected. This update allows polling time to be configurable via the registry. A new registry key "CDROMPollFrequency" is added under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\CDProfile\CDRom in the registry file common.reg with the default value of 0x7D0(2s).
